KunnyaKumari - The Southernmost Tip of India

In June, Jim went to India on company business. He went to Mumbai and then to the south of India to Kovalam, a resort town on the ocean, for a customer event. He spoke in Kovalam on the XP disk array product he manages. He had all day Saturday open due to his return travel plans which required a departure late on Saturday evening. Being that he was very close to the very most southern tip of India, he and two companions decided to rent a car and go visit Kunnyakumari, the southernmost tip of India. Kunnyakumari means "beautiful virgin" in the local language. So he was thinking it would be some sort of preserve or beautiful place. Well, it was interesting, but the virgin had long since been defiled.

Jim and his traveling companions. The person in the green shirt is the CIO for the largest credit reporting company in India. The person in the red is from Singapore and works for Jim's company.

This is the monument that marks the spot of the southernmost tip in India. It is in memory of a famous Indian religious leader.

An art shot by Jim looking at the boats under repair or otherwise waiting for something in the harbor.

The monuments and shrine are actually small islands out in the bay. You take the boat above from the shore to the shrine. Jim was just a little worried about the sea-worthiness of the boat, so he put on his life jacket, unlike 90% of the other people on the boat. I guess he has been dumped in the river enough times to know to put on his life jacket before he is in the water.

What a trip! I love that you wore your life jacket, Dad. And your hair looks awesome in that first pic of you! :)
