Day Two of the Midway Reunion

The second day got off to a great start with a huge breakfast prepared by Margy and Eldon. We had dutch oven eggs, pancakes with buttermilk syrup and fresh fruit. YUM! While waiting for everyone to get dressed and ready for the day, Becca and I started picking wildflowers. Soon Maggie got into the action. Our resulting bouquet was beautiful!

Maggie entertained us with some funny faces.

The time passed quickly and before we knew it, it was time to find a hike. We drove down the road to the Wasatch Mountain State Park Visitors Center. Becca got distracted chasing the geese and playing on the playground.

It wasn't easy but we managed to drag her away for the hike.

We walked about a mile to Huber Grove which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

It was settled and built by Swiss immigrant Johannes Huber about 130 years ago. We felt like we had walked back in time as we explored the old farm. We were impressed by the peace and beauty of the place.
Hot and hungry, we made our way back to the house for lunch. Then we donned swimming suits and headed to Deer Creek Reservoir to cool off.

True to tradition, it was windy and amazingly cool. For some reason, our waterfront reunion activities tend to be that way. It didn't take us long to cool off!

The adults mostly sat--visiting and soaking up the sun.

The kids had a blast playing in the water.

A few hearty souls took out the kayaks (remember it was windy and quite cool).

Sun-kissed and back at the house everyone pitched in to fix dinner--a BBQ! Then it was playtime followed by the family slide show.

The final fling in the hot tub got the kids somewhat settled down for the night.
