Gathering in Midway for the Family Reunion

My extended family gathered for the annual family reunion on June 24. We assembled in a large, comfortable home set on the side of the mountain in Midway. Jeff and Suzanne did an outstanding job of hosting the event. They kicked it off with a delicious taco salad dinner.

It felt great to be in the midst of so much family!

The after-dinner activities the first night included a surprise birthday party. Mom had made quilted wall hangings for Shawn and I from quilt pieces embroidered by Grandma Lewis and friends.

What a special surprise! We really appreciate all her hard work.

Adding to the excitement, deer were spotted in the fields below.

We ended the first day with a campfire and s'mores.

As Jim and I drove to our own little retreat (the big house was full and, fearing as much, we had made arrangements to sleep in Sam's house nearby), we commented on how much we were looking forward to spending the next couple of days with so many family members in such a beautiful setting.
